The film We Move the World tells a story lived and felt by one million women. A story of courage, transformation and women discovering the power they already carry. We made this film for them. And now we hope their story will inspire millions more.
Why we made this film
A story lived and felt by one million women
We made We Move the World first and foremost for the women who form, shape and lead the Buzz Women movement. To hold up a mirror to their courage and transformation. To let every woman see what we see: how she is changing her own life, inspiring others and driving change in her community. And to show her that she is not doing this alone. Her story is part of a much bigger story: a movement of women across villages, countries and continents, each creating change in her own way, yet connected to and carried by women around the world.
Every woman in the Buzz Women movement will have the opportunity to see the film in her own language. We hope that when she watches it, she recognizes herself. That she feels: this is my story. I’m part of this movement.
The making of
The film We Move the World was created by Studio Birthplace founder Jorik Dozy and Gouden Kalf-winning cinematographer Lennert Hillege. Studio Birthplace is a creative studio that uses storytelling as a force for positive action and transformation. The music was composed by Maria Vertiz, three-time Latin Grammy nominee.
The film was shot in the homes and communities of women in India and The Gambia, capturing their families and daily lives. It shows women letting go of doubts and beliefs they were taught to carry, discovering the strength that was already within them and using it to shape the world around them.
