Introducing Moyoni Africa: partnering with Mastercard Foundation

Moyoni Mastercard Foundation Announcement

We’re incredibly proud and excited to announce that Buzz Women is entering a five-year partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. In this collaboration we’ll be working alongside young women across Africa to improve livelihoods, access to opportunities and training.

Over the next five years the programme will reach 200,000 women across The Gambia, Tanzania, and Kenya, with Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal to follow. Specifically intended for young women in the age between 18 and 35 as they shape the direction of their lives and communities.

We have named it Moyoni. In Swahili, it means “in the heart.” That is exactly where transformation begins. Moyoni Africa is built on the awareness that lasting change starts inside: in how a woman sees herself, what she believes is possible, and the story she tells about her own life. From that inner shift, everything else follows: entrepreneurial thinking, financial capability, practical skills, sustainable income, stronger households, thriving communities.

We have named the programme Moyoni. In Swahili, it means ‘in the heart’.

The partnership with the Mastercard Foundation widens our reach as The Mastercard Foundation works across more than forty African countries, with deep experience in economic inclusion and youth opportunity. Partnering with the Foundation lets that reach extend further and faster – carried, as it always is, by the women themselves.

This is the first chapter of Moyoni. We look forward to sharing future updates with you.
